The Art program at North Florida Christian is a part of every student’s experience beginning in Preschool through Elementary. Students in Middle School and High School may take art as one of their electives. Art at NFC is taught from the perspective of a discipline-based art education with students learning historical information, skills for production, and analytical thinking for writing critical papers about art and art history.
Core beliefs for art at NFC are:
• All art reflects truth; either truth about God or some aspect of his character, or it reflects man's need for God.
• Art is a form of communication and is never created in a vacuum.
• Art always reflects the beliefs embraced by the artist and the soul of the culture in which it was created.
An effective, balanced, and God-centered study of visual art as a communication tool and medium of personal expression is the goal of the North Florida Christian High School Art Department.
